Today it was confirmed that Hikaru’s new song for the upcoming Evangelion movie is in fact an acoustic rock-influenced remix of Beautiful World instead of a brand new song.
“Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix-” will be available as a one track single. A preview can be heard at Hikki’s website at EMI and is available for download at Recochoku (Chaka Uta) .
According to Mora, Utada’s still untitled single for the second part of the Evangelion series, will be revealed on June 27. Hopefully this is true. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hikki is in the spotlight for the mounh of June on Channel V she explains more about “this is the one”
“[V] is putting Utada front and centre in the spotlight. Born and raised in New York City, this Japanese-American’s debut album, First Love, rewrote the record books when it became the best-selling album ever in Japan. With her record-breaking singles, ‘Automatic’ and ‘First Love,’ it wasn’t long before the rest of the world started hearing about this talented songstress.
After failing to crack the US market, in 1998 she moved to Tokyo with her family and continued to pursue her music career. Given the success of First Love and her subsequent albums, Utada has become one of Japan’s most successful artists of all time.Three of her Japanese albums are included in Japan’s Top 10 list of best-selling albums.
Having secured her place in Japan, Utada is out to conquer the English-language charts with the release of third English album, This is the One.”
This interview was posted on U.Blog. Check it out here.
Some key points (bare in mind that this interview took place before the title of the album “This Is The One” was even released, so some opinions might have changed between then and now)
Utada finds translating her music from Japanese to English, and English to Japanese difficult. This is one reason why she is hesitating on the offer of a third theme song for the Kingdom Hearts series. (NOTE 1: When her father says that “Disney doesn’t pay”, it is JUST a joke, it is not true.) (NOTE 2: As there have been no official announcements yet, please take this point lightly as it may not be true…)
She is considering songwriting for others (e.g. First Love in English and then composed for another to sing and record)
This month, we picked a Japanese artist similar to Utada. She also has good pronunciation of English and apparently has a Korean background. JYONGRI is her name. Her music is more like Utada’s softer songs, like First Love and FINAL DISTANCE. JYONGRI’s upbeat songs are also catchy, along the genres of dance and R&B. If you’re a fan of Tetsuya Nomura’s games, you’ll recognize JYONGRI from “The World Ends With You”, where she did the theme song for the game in both Japanese and English, “Lullaby For You”.
